SARA COX TO JOIN VERNON KAY ON THE BILL THIS SUMMER

UTTOXETER RACECOURSE HITS THE RIGHT NOTE:

SARA COX TO JOIN VERNON KAY ON THE BILL THIS SUMMER

It has been confirmed that Sara Cox will make a very welcome return to Uttoxeter Racecourse on Friday 22 July, to play a live DJ set at the Ladies Day race meeting.

This follows the recent announcement that fellow DJ Vernon Kay will this year be pumping up the volume at Ladies Night on Thursday 9 June.

Already regarded as two of the leading events on Staffordshire's annual calendar, Ladies Night and Ladies Day at Uttoxeter Racecourse give groups of "gals and their pals" the perfect excuse to get glammed-up and in mood for a girls' night out with a difference.

But the guest appearances by radio personalities and TV stars Sara Cox and Vernon Kay at these meetings this year promises to lift them to another level - as two of the county's top sports-and-social occasions put the ladies under the spotlight and give them an excuse to don posh frocks and high heels, watch some top class racing and then boogie the night away while Vernon and Sara spin their classic and modern hits.

David MacDonald, Executive Director at the racecourse says, "We have now moved away from the more traditional tribute bands after racing on our Ladies Night and Ladies Day, and have raised the bar considerably by inviting two of Britain's best-loved DJs to perform at Uttoxeter Racecourse. We want to make sure we're offering the crowds who come here the very best in entertainment - alongside some fabulous horse racing. Anyone who was here last year June will testify just how memorable Sara's appearance at Ladies Night was. So while we're absolutely delighted to have Vernon here for that this year, we're equally thrilled to be able to welcome Sara back in July.

"All of this, of course, will follow another headline act for Uttoxeter in May - when The Human League will be performing at our Live Music Raceday."

Sara Cox is one of the most popular radio DJ's broadcasting today and currently hosts BBC Radio 2 Sound of the 80's every Saturday night. She has been a firm favourite with the BBC audience for many years previously working for Radio 1 across many shows including hosting the famous 'Breakfast Show'.

Sara also loves popping up on telly - in programmes such as the Great Pottery Throw Down, which was filmed in nearby Stoke-on-Trent - but radio is where her heart is. Her love of music and showing off make her a great DJ for any occasion. It's her down to earth nature and bubbly sense of fun that makes Sara so popular. She is very genuine and this resonates with audiences.

Vernon, one of the UK's top TV hosts, meanwhile, is to tour a series of the UK's premier Racecourses across the summer of 2016 - including Uttoxeter on 9 June.

He says, "I DJ'd at Doncaster Racecourse in 2015 and had such a great time. The course is brilliant and the crowd were so up for it. I never realised a day at the races could be so much fun. I am so looking forward to playing these Racecourses across the summer of 2016. Perhaps in 2017 I will take it one step further and be the tallest jockey in history!"
