X Factor and Eurovision Star Saara Aalto announced as special guest to join Steps on their GRANDSLAM 2018: SUMMER OF STEPS TOUR

X Factor and 2018 Eurovision Song Contest Star Saara Aalto has been announced to join Steps on their huge GRANDSLAM 2018: Summer of Steps Tour.

The Finnish pop princess will be performing as a special guest at Cheltenham LCI Rail Stadium, Canterbury The Spitfire Ground, Colchester Castle Park and Bolesworth Castle, joining the previously announced boy band Blue on the line-up.

Saara said, “I cannot wait to be back in front of British audiences again. The UK really embraced me and my style! To be performing alongside Steps in stadiums up and down the country is a dream come true after my X Factor experience.”

Current bookies’ favourite to win the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, Saara will be on the tour from May following the launch of her debut international single in March, which will also serve as Finland’s entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 2018.

Saara has been working with internationally acclaimed songwriters and producers, including Xenomania (Girls Aloud, Little Mix, Cher) Biffco (Kylie Minogue, Spice Girls) Laconic/Tom Aspaul (Snakehips, AlunaGeorge, Kylie Minogue) and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Out of an arsenal of songs, three songs will bid to become her debut international single/Eurovision entry in a huge live TV special in Finland. World renowned creative director Brian Friedman, the creative genius behind X Factor, Britney, Cher & Beyonce, will oversee the production with an unprecedented one in four Finns expected to tune in!

The songs in question, ‘Monsters’, ‘Domino’ & ‘Queens’ have already been released in Europe to huge iTunes success hitting Number One in Finland, Top 10 in Sweden & the charts of Norway & Netherlands. The buzz has been so big that even Dan Wootton of The Sun premiered the glossy ‘Queens’ video clip, before the UK single is even confirmed!

The past year has been an absolute whirlwind for Saara which has seen her become an X Factor Finland judge, release her debut book ‘No Fear’ and now touring with Steps.

Saara said, “I think the Steps fans are going to really embrace my sound. My album is very uplifting. I call the style Epic. Love. Pop. For everyone who loved my big performances on X Factor, this is for them!”

The Steps GRANDSLAM 2018: Summer of Steps Tour will see the iconic pop band performing all over the UK on their huge outdoor tour as part of their 20th Anniversary celebrations.

There is no pop comeback story bigger than Steps who have returned to claim their pop crown! This year has seen the band return to the charts, to TV, to radio, to huge concerts and to the hearts of the nation. This is a fantastic opportunity to see one of the UK’s most exciting current names in pop music doing what they do best!

Steps first broke on to the pop scene in 1997 and their debut single 5,6,7,8 achieved record-breaking success; a clear indication of what was to follow! The band - who became synonymous with lively dance performances, colourful costumes, and a refreshing take on pop tunes each bursting with personality - went on to achieve an unbroken run of fourteen Top 5 singles (including three Number 1’s), two four-times Platinum albums and one five-times Platinum album.

During their career, until their break in 2001, they notched up an impressive 20 million in record sales and seven sold-out arena tours. A decade later, the band decided to reunite, shooting to Number 1 with their 2011 hits compilation ‘The Ultimate Collection’, and selling out their 20-date ‘Ultimate Tour’.

In 2017, to mark their 20th Anniversary, Steps brought out their highly anticipated album ‘Tears on the Dancefloor’, which achieved Silver status in just three weeks, and announced their indoor winter 2017 ‘Party on the Dancefloor Tour’.

The huge success of the album, which features a host of new material, including the smash single Scared of the Dark, has recently led to the album being re-released as a deluxe edition (led by the new single Dancing with a Broken Heart), and to the announcement of their massive GRANDSLAM 2018: SUMMER OF STEPS TOUR.

Steps said “We can’t wait to play outdoors across the UK next summer following on from our sold-out Party on the Dancefloor arena tour this winter. The appetite for Steps has never been stronger, and we are thrilled to continue performing throughout next year. We promise to deliver a massive party at our summer gigs. Bring your family and bring your friends – we cannot wait to see you there!”

Information on Steps’ latest album:

‘Tears on the Dancefloor: Crying at the Disco Deluxe Edition’ is a special re-release of Steps’ hugely successful ‘Tears on the Dancefloor’ which reached Number 2 in the Official Albums Chart when released earlier this year and went Silver within three weeks of release. The deluxe album features the brand-new single Dancing with a Broken Heart plus the hits Scared of the Dark, Story of a Heart and Neon Blue.

Blue are a British boyband that dominated global charts from the early 2000s and have amassed five studio albums - including three UK Number One Platinum-selling albums - two Brit Awards and more than 40 million record sales worldwide, including 16 million album sales. Formed of four friends Antony Costa, Duncan James, Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe, Blue steadily built a huge fan base with the noughties generation, from the moment their debut single All Rise hit the UK charts at Number 4, followed closely by their Number One hit Too Close; the start of the phenomenal success they would go on to enjoy. The boys continue to command a loyal following; their beautiful harmonies, meaningful lyrics and engaging bubbly personalities proving a winning formula. In 2005, the boys decided to take a hiatus to pursue individual interests before reuniting for the 2009 Capital FM Summertime Ball where they made a surprise appearance together with Lionel Richie. Two years later in 2011 the boys officially reunited to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest. Over the following four years they released two albums Roulette (2013) and Colours (2015) and did nine sell-out tours across twenty-four countries, playing to 1.8 million people as well as touring the UK separately with Wet Wet Wet and ITV’s The Big Reunion. In October 2017, Blue released their first ever biography “All Rise: Our Story” (HQ/HarperCollins) an endearing bare-all account of their lives as the band and embarked on a book signing tour of the UK.
